Charity, Chris and I spent a lovely couple of hours at the Raleigh Arboretum shooting their engagement session last week. As we were shooting, I asked them how they first met. “It all began with me smashing a cupcake into his face” said Charity as she related the story to me of how she and Chris first started dating. One of Charity’s co-workers was friends with Chris and the three of them started hanging out together. It turned out that Chris’s birthday is the day before Charity’s birthday so Charity decided to throw a “joint birthday party” for the two of them. Apparently Charity could not resist having some fun with a cupcake and obviously Chris took it all in stride.
I have to admit, smashing cupcakes is one of the more unusual ways to a man’s heart!
Their wedding is coming up in a couple of weeks and I plan on being ready during the cake cutting ceremony just in case Chris decides that turnaround is fair play.

You have probably heard the old saying; “it’s a lucky sign if it rains on your wedding day”. Megan and Micah are not getting married until next summer, but if it does rain on their wedding, it will be par for the course for this lovely couple. We have had to reschedule their engagement session so many times due to rain that I have lost count! But yesterday we got a lucky break. We spent a few hours together wandering around downtown Raleigh before ending up at Carter-Finely stadium. Micah is an NC State grad while Megan attended school in New York. They met when Megan came to Raleigh as part of the “Teach for America” program.
I am looking forward to shooting their wedding next June but I am already thinking about bringing an umbrella!

The Hall and Gardens at Landmark in Garner was the site for Tiffany and Bobby’s wedding on Saturday, September 3rd. It was a picture perfect day for an outdoor ceremony where the 150 or so guests enjoyed moderate temperatures as Tiffany and Bobby exchanged vows.
Speaking of Tiffany, all I can say is “WOW!” She is not only beautiful but she has a truly wonderful sense of humor and graciousness about her. Tiffany had a kind word for everyone during the evening and even though things were starting to get a little behind schedule just before the ceremony, she never let the pressure get to her. She was cool and easy going all afternoon and evening. Bobby is one lucky guy!
This wedding was a real treat for me to photograph not only because of the beautiful location and bride, but because Tiffany’s parents are friends of mine. I was truly honored when they asked me to photograph their daughter’s wedding.
I also have to give a shout out to my assistant, Marisa Sertic, who was invaluable to me.
After the wedding, the couple is traveling to Disney World for some fun and relaxation before Bobby is sent overseas with his Air Force unit. I wish him godspeed and a safe return.
Beautiful bride, handsome groom, lovely location. All of it adds up to some wonderful photos. Enjoy!
