Lester and Abbey had done everything right. They planned their destination wedding to Savannah for months. Family and friends had committed to making the trip from all over the country. Everything was in place for the perfect wedding. Then, the morning of the wedding, it started to rain, and rain, and rain. It was one of those storms that showed no sign of letting up.
Savannah is a scenic city that features some beautiful spots to photograph. Abbey had presented me with a shot list of photos and exterior locations already picked out. I drove down to Georgia two days prior to the wedding to check out the various locations for myself. I was excited to be able to shoot in one of the prettiest towns in the South.
But the rain could not dampen the spirit of this wonderful couple. Abbey and Lester took it all in stride and we made the best of it. We did get some beautiful weather the day before the wedding to shoot a “short engagement” session so at least they will have some lovely exterior shots. Even though we were not able to shoot in all the locations that we wanted, I think you will agree that the emotion and joy of their special day was captured in spite of the rain.

I loved your portraits in the rain. Did you put a plastic bag over it to light the rain? Great idea.

Thank you Mike. Yes, I put white plastic bags over my lights.

Ditto on the rain shot. I noticed you adjusted the WB to get a cool blue look from the flash. Did you have to gel the lights hitting them in front or were you using ambient?
Thanks Galen, I used a bit of gelled flash mixed with some ambient on my front light. The flash I placed outside in the rain was un-gelled.
